JS Painting Company painted the interior and exterior of this beautiful new home on Greenlake Way. The project is Benjamin Moore top to bottom. Starting with the outside -
We filled every nailhead with putty rather than caulking because we knew we wanted to go with that extra smooth glass finish on the trim. We scuff sanded every piece of trim to ensure consistancy and proper adhesion. As we went along with the puttying and sanding we made sure to caulk anything that needed caulking (i.e. gaps and grooves, vertically between boards, around windows, etc…). Then we hit all of the trim with two coats of Benjamin Moore's Aura® Semi-Gloss. This posed two challenges: one was that since the trim material wasn't very porous, anything more than a perfectly even light coating would run; and the other was that we were working during the cooler end of the season and dry times were an issue. We inevitably had a few touch ups but when we were finished we had a beautifully shiny glass-like finish. Then after the trim had dried, we masked it all off and used Benjamin Moore's Fresh Start® Premium Latex Primer tinted to the true color on the body. This is an important point because we went with the color "powder blush" and light pinks have problems with fading (check out Phinney/Fremont Stop Sign House Exterior Aura Low Lustre Paint Review for more details on pinks, reds, yellows, and the fading problems they're known for). The other reason we felt a full primer necessary was that when you're working with such a smooth surface and a paint with some sheen, you're walking into a situation where flashing is a concern. I personally don't find 2-in-1 paint/primers to be adequate when sealing a surface for the first time, so we went with the tinted full prime. From there we were able to shoot Benjamin Moore's Aura® Low Lustre on the body with little problems. We had a some minimal touching up because of weather and drying but ultimately the finish was smooth and flash free.
