Picking the Right Color - A Fun Tool

People often ask us for suggestions on paint colors, and we're happy to help but Sherwin Williams has an interesting tool that might help you along the way. Ultimately, you are going to get the best sense of what a color will look like once you have applied a sample, but if you're having a tough time imagining what something might look like or even just narrowing your scope, this tool might be able to help. There are also some new mobile tools that Sherwin Williams has come out with recently that might help you along. They put out "ColorSnap®" for smart phones and "ColorSnap Studio™" for iPad.

Sherwin Williams Color Visualizer Tool

The Sherwin Williams color visualizer tool offers you 1,500 of their colors to choose from when you're ready to paint your home. It's a simple tool; all you do is upload a photo of your room (or choose from one of the stock photos); select the areas you're painting; and cycle through hundreds of Sherwin Williams colors to see what the finished product will look like (you just drag and drop the colors onto the areas of your room or home). It will help you see what colors work best with your furniture and décor, and you can experiment as much as you want to without consequence.
Not only is the color visualizer a fun tool to play with, it can also save you money. Because you're only experimenting with virtual paint, you're not wasting money or time by buying gallons of paint that will ultimately go unused.

The tool also helps you narrow down your color choices. Most homeowners are not color experts, and the concept of painting your walls anything other than "renter's white" can be terrifying. But the Sherwin Williams color visualizer lets you splash red and black all over your room, without any messy clean-up.

It can be a bit overwhelming to have so many options – but that's exactly why this tool is perfect for any homeowner. When playing with the visualizer, you may select a color for your trim – let's say, gray – and you can see, once it's on the trim in the photo of your room, it's actually an atrocious brown color. You've made a mistake; but it's one that can be changed in a matter of seconds.

When you finally select the perfect colors for your home, you can order the actual paint samples knowing exactly what colors you need. Once you procure the paint, you can apply the real paint to your real walls. It'll take longer than playing with the color visualizer, but in the end, you'll be much more satisfied with your real results versus your virtual ones.
